Made in L.A. & Triple C’s Wrap-Up

We are halfway through our Documentary and Discussion series with the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas. On June 1, 2017, we viewed and discussed the award-winning documentary Made in L.A.

About 30 people showed up to the film, although not everyone stayed for the lively discussion facilitated by Dan Cryer and Elaine Edmiston. We met a few new friends, which is always nice. I was able to speak about some of the things we have coming up, including restarting our membership meetings and our June house parties. We do have Made in L.A. in our SURJ library, so please contact us if you’d like to borrow it for a house party in your home.

We also finished collecting items for the Triple C’s Donation Drive. We collected during the entire month of May, and were able to contribute a number of food items, a few bags of charcoal, several cases of water, games, books, and over $100 to their gofundme. SURJ LV will continue to work to identify boots-on-the-ground organizations in our community that we can support as part of our efforts towards equity for all people.

I will create the event post for our July film, 13th, and post it on our page shortly. Please come out and support this endeavor as this series winds down. Your presence here will determine the success of this type of outreach and whether or not we are able to continue to offer this kind of work in the future. Please mark your calendars for July 6 from 6-9 p.m and come watch with us.
